A Grade 8 tradition at BMS is for our Grade 8 science students to design and build a Rube Goldberg contraption as part of their final unit on energy and machines.
Here are some of the machines built by the Class of 2014!
The machines are complicated contraptions built to perform a simple task.
The task this year was to pop a balloon.
Aidan, Mikey, and Jackson checking out one of the machines.
Set up can take much, much longer than operation!
But once set up, the balloon has little chance of remaining inflated!
I think this machine pays tribute to our all school read, "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn".
X marks the spot on this machine!
The decapitations in this photo are the result of the photographer, not the Rube Goldberg machines!
Mouse traps are a popular component
And so is "duck" tape!
