Our Grade 7 students presented their memorial projects to the public on Tuesday, January 11. The presentations were made in our Binney Art Gallery and we have numerous photos to share from that very successful event!
Alex created her memorial about the Kinder Transport
Allie created a memorial about the identities stolen and the futures impacted
Phillip created a memorial to Hiroshima
Molly's memorial invited participants to go behind the curtain one person at a time to reinforce the choices that each individual has to make to create a more just world.
The students have free artistic license to use materials and images to get viewers to think about an event studied in Grade 7 Humanities class.
Michael's memorial spoke about the power of words and language in forming one's identity.
David's had a pristine window covering shattered glass in his memorial to Kristalnacht.
Lili's memorial provoked thought about stereotyping and the resulting abolishment of individualism.
Students from last year's Humanities class were welcome visitors.
Aaron's memorial spoke to the power within oneself to break the bondage of the prejudices we hold.
Michael's exhibit focused on Darfur
Thank you to everyone who attended the opening! The exhibits will remain on display through January in our Binney Art Gallery.
